About

Bethany began Irish step dancing at the age of six under the instruction of Lisa and Karen Petri. She competed at the regional, national, and international levels, with career highlights including placing second at her final Oireachtas in 2010, recalling at both the World and All-Ireland Championships, and finishing 15th at her last Nationals in 2011.

Bethany performed on the Today Show, at multiple Governor’s Breakfasts at the Waldorf Astoria, and during halftime shows for the New York Knicks on St. Patrick's Day.

Bethany’s passion for Irish dance naturally led her to teaching. While attending SUNY Geneseo, she co-founded the college’s Irish step dance club, Sláinte, serving as president and choreographer for two years. She also taught in the local community at the Valley School of Dance, where her students performed in winter and spring recitals.

Upon graduation, Bethany joined the McCabe School of Irish Dance as an assistant teacher. In June 2025, after earning her TCRG certification, Bethany joined Lisa and Karen Petri and helped transition McCabe over to Doherty Petri.

Today, Small Steps Irish Dance is an affiliate of the Doherty Petri School of Irish Dance.
